DEEPWATER is a web series we created to document our adventures around the world chasing storms. We have been traveling for years searching for some of the biggest and best waves out there but have never documented the trips. Now with Patagonia’s help, we are able to film the entire voyage and put together a short documentary covering what it is like chase and ride some of the biggest storms in the ocean.

“Surfing big waves keeps me grounded,” Kohl says. As one of the leading players in the revival of paddle-in surfing in giant conditions, he spends much of his time tracking swells and testing new board designs. When it’s flat, he’s pretty grounded as well, installing solar energy systems and tending his off-the-grid farm on the North Shore of O’ahu.
